    Description

Well known metal work artist Merle Steir hand made these 2 solid polished brass Dreidels. Both are
signed on the round Dreidel itself. The museum ones were signed on the pin near the point.
The signature reads: "The J.M.Dreidel copyright Merle Steir N.Y.C. 1976 BG".  The Museum Of Modern Art In Manhattan, New York City, sold copies of these. His note written to someone close reads: Hi there- Here it is- the first Steir in the Museum of Modern Art. They bought it and are selling them. WHOOPEE, Have a Happy. Love Merle. These Dreidels are played during Hanukkah, 4 sided spinning tops with the symbols: Shin, Hay, Gimmel, nun. Each weighs a heavy 13.3 ounces, and are 3 & 1/4" wide. The center pin is made with a taper to fit perfectly in place.
